Hey all. I just wanted to get this series of articles so to speak rolling with a little intro into exactly what my thoughts are regarding its content and purpose. I know I didn’t get a whole lot of interest, but I did get a little and I wanted to do it anyway, sooo….it’s happening (go figure!).

This is my first pregnancy and it’s an incredible experience in every way. There are boring times, miserable times, awesome times, and there’s really nothing that quite compares to it. I discovered that I like reading about others’ pregnancies and birth stories and I decided I wanted to share mine. In addition that, there’s a lot of discomfort and awkwardness and more that comes along with pregnancy, so this will give me an outlet so that maybe I’m not a whiny wuss around the house all the time (LOL…a girl can dream). It’ll also give me a creative outlet for what little writing urges I still have, since it mostly disappeared once this pregnancy kicked into full swing. I would work on my Earthbound Angel book, but frankly that’s a young adult novel with a fifteen year old main character and pregnancy isn’t (or at least SHOULDN’T) be a young adult topic, so I’m just in the completely wrong frame of mind to even try to put more into that project at this time.

Possibly one of the biggest motivations in writing these articles will be the sharing, but also the warning. To any readers who are already mothers, feel free to put your two cents in, and to any who are not yet mothers but will be soon or are thinking about it in the future, take this as a possibility of what’s to come. Pregnancy ain’t always fun, and I plan on laying it all out there, both good and not so great.

What this means for content is that I will be talking about the nitty gritty, sometimes even nasty stuff. There will be talk of sex, poop, diet, weight, aches and pains, pregnancy related terms (such as “placenta”), and specific body parts. When the time comes, I also plan on writing about the actual birth in detail. If any of that will be TMI or gross or anything like that, you may not want to read these articles. If you’re not afraid to read along, I hope you can take away something from my story, even if it’s just knowing that if/when it happens to you (or already has), you know you’re not alone. I may also throw some references out there such as books, classes, or groups that may be helpful as well.

Roughly, some of the different topics to be covered throughout the series are: getting pregnant, finding out, first trimester, sharing the news, second trimester, birthing classes, setbacks, getting ready, the birth, and depending on how things go I’ll also write about the first days or more after coming home.

So that’s it. That’s my intro. I don’t have any schedule planned on posting these articles, just when I get around to writing them and have room on the blog around tour posts and such to get them posted (probably sometime between Thursday and Sunday of any given week). I hope you’ll stick around and read about my adventures with Tiny Curran. 🙂

P.S. – My real name is Hillary Curran and one day my good friend Jennifer James texted me saying that she’d been looking at baby goodies for Tiny Curran. My husband and I adored the little nickname so much that it stuck, even after finding out the sex of the baby. So you’ll probably see me refer to her as Tiny Curran or “TC” often. FYI on that 😉
