We took down the Night, but I'm not sure it was worth it, since it cost me two of my mates Feeling Balfour and Foster ripped from our bond was horrifying, and now they don't even know who I am. To get them back, the goddess has given us four tasks to complete before she can re-brand them, but what if we can't get a hold of her? The goddess has been oddly distant, and my mates and I have a lot on our plates trying to sort out the council we've started leading. Can we find the time to make a triple bond before it's too late? and what exactly will it take to make our world safe again?

MY THOUGHTS

I was looking forward to this book with how the last one ended. The big bad is out, so that leaves focusing on Gabriella’s relationship with her mates. I also wanted to see how the world changed after a big event like that. Apollo didn’t disappear when his creator was slain, so we’ll get to know him better. The goddess led Gabriella and her circuit to do what she set out for them to do, so I expected her to be much less of a factor, though I feared things would go badly for her after her villainous mate died. Bennett returns (that’s right I had to think back to who he was – her brother) for a bit and we learn a little about his future. The nerf battles were a minor little treat throughout the series and I appreciated that consistent little bit of pure childish fun.

About the Characters

Gabriella is loving, sexy and fun. She really steps into her role and is adorable with her mates. Balfour starts to remember who he was to his mate and is very sweet as he once again goes all in. Foster has a wolf to help him along in remembering what Gabriella meant to him, so he falls back into place relatively quickly and easily. Dar remains his protective self, but also likes to instigate both sexy times and fun teasing. Cyrus continues to be super sweet and supportive. He is totally fearless when it comes to exploring things in the bedroom. Grey is super sexy, particularly when his vamp side comes out to play. Palmer is still his goofy fun self and showcases some pranks between himself and Pearson who is a great partner in crime as he too is a goofy prankster with a sweet side. Jericho comes out of his broody shell and fits right in among Gabriella’s mates. I love him. Royce is much better. He’s like a combination of Dar and Palmer in that he’s slightly domineering, yet fun. He’s got an evil streak when it comes to his brother which is fantastic. Pax is just adorable and sweet. Apollo thankfully no longer feels so weird. He’s an accomplice all over the place in all the right ways and he’s a sexy tease that knows how to rile Gabriella (and everyone else) up.

Things I Liked

The group as a whole was confortable, happy, and supportive. There was honest love amongst them all and their bonding is endearing. There was MM fun, and a bunch of glorious smut in this book – yet managed not to feel gratuitous. I loved their wedding reception. It was just perfect, not counting the Bennett situation. My favorite part of this book though has got to be the antics of Palmer and Pax while drunk off Gabriella and Bennett’s reaction when he gets imagery he really didn’t need in his life.

Things I Didn’t Like

I wish I understood the goddess situation better. I get the important part obviously, but I didn’t fully understand this portal thing. I wish we could have seen more regarding the resolution of conduits flippantly marking mates. How bad did it get, how did they take it, and how was it monitored? Did things fix themselves after the goddess crossed over or is it going to take more work from Gabriella? My utter turn off, though, comes from Pax. I like him, but just no to the “aquatic shifter” (yeah mermaids) sex. I didn’t understand the logistics of it, and it’s just a little over the line for me. That was the only real turn off though, the rest of the bedroom (or anywhere else) fun was great.

More Thoughts

I’m glad that everybody is settling into the circuit and everything, but I still want more of them. Their happy times just feel so good. I was hoping to see a pregnant Gabriella, but I also understand her wanting to enjoy just them for a while before starting a family. It does look like there’s a spinoff coming centered around Bennett’s lady love that will feature an occasional appearance from Gabriella and family.

Does it stand alone?

Nope. You’d be really lost without having read the first 3.

Bottom Line

This was a satisfying and sweet conclusion with an open door to a spinoff and a new world.
