Series: Aldebarian Alliance #1
Format: Book

Taelon searches the galaxy for his younger sister, who mysteriously disappeared while on a diplomatic mission. When an ally reveals that she was seized and is being held prisoner on Earth, Taelon descends upon the blue planet, intent on freeing her and exacting vengeance. However, all does not go as planned. Before he can find her, Taelon is captured and becomes the subject of torturous experiments. For what feels like an eternity, all he knows is pain and fury... until a mind tentatively touches his own and a woman's voice forever changes his world. After suffering tragic losses, Lisa is finally beginning to carve out a future for herself when chance sends her to the Anomalous Cognition Research Institute. What at first appears to be a benign organization seeking participants for a psychic study instead turns out to be a government facility harboring a much darker intent. Lisa discovers this too late and soon becomes the unwilling subject of a terrifying experiment. Just as fear and desperation threaten to consume her, a deep, compelling voice penetrates the looming insanity and lends her hope. Having seen only the worst of humanity, Taelon is shocked when Lisa risks everything to free him. Together the two make their escape, and Taelon finds himself fascinated by the small human woman who-despite all she's suffered-can still laugh and tease and lure smiles from him. Friendship swiftly grows between them as they work together to evade soldiers intent on capturing them and find themselves hunted by mystifying preternatural beings. Through it all, Lisa steadfastly remains by his side, stealing more of his heart each day while she helps him unravel the mystery of his sister's fate. Can they find his sister before the hunters find them? If they survive their quest, will Taelon have to bid Lisa farewell... or can he coax her into leaving her planet and joining him for the adventure of a lifetime?

Top 5 Books on Dianne Duvall’s Spring TBR List

Hello! Thanks so much for helping me celebrate the release of THE LASARAN, the first book in my new Aldebarian Alliance series. (I’m so excited!) I have always been a voracious reader . . . and by always, I mean since the second grade. Most of the time, I read for fun. But sometimes I also read for escape. I’ve been needing a little more of the latter lately, so I’ve been trying to work in more reading time. And here are a few of the many, many books on my TBR list:

1
RELIC OF SORROWS (Fallen Empire Book 4) by Lyndsay Buroker. Though romance is my favorite genre, this straight-up sci-fi series has really pulled me in. I enjoyed the first three books and look forward to reading the rest of the series, beginning with this one. AND I think there just might be a romance brewing in it to satisfy the romance lover in me. 😉

2
LOUD MOUTH (Ice Knights Book 3) by Avery Flynn. A few years ago, I read several books in a row that really turned me off contemporary romance, so much so that I stopped reading it entirely. Then I saw one of my Facebook friends mention Avery Flynn’s AWK-WEIRD and—after reading the blurb and the first few pages—couldn’t resist giving it a shot. Well, I loved it. It totally lured me back into the contemporary romance world, as did the second book in the series. I can’t wait to read this one.

3
LOVED IN SPACE by Mina Carter, Eve Langlais, Susan Hayes, Cara Bristol, J Thompson, and Donna McDonald. I’ve really been enjoying sci-fi romance lately and love anthologies. Many anthologies I’ve read in the past have helped me find new-to-me authors who soon became favorites. I strongly suspect this one will, too. I’ve already read books by half of these authors and enjoyed them. So I’m looking forward to diving in.

4
Laurann Dohner’s next book. I don’t know the title or when it will release. Nor do I know what series it will be part of. LOL. I just love Laurann’s books and the characters she creates. New Species. The Vorge Crew. Cyborg Seduction. VLG. Her books are auto-buys for me and I always look forward to reading more.

5
The books based on the Alien film series. The movies ALIEN (with Sigourney Weaver) and ALIENS are two of my all-time favorite sci-fi films. So when a friend mentioned there’s a series of books/audiobooks that tell new stories related to the film stories, I had to give them a try. Now I’m hooked.
