The assassins have their hands full chasing down the creatures who've fled to the human world. Too bad Morgan has been consigned to the schoolroom, too valuable as the future heir to the crown to be risked. Not one to kick up her heels and do nothing, Morgan is determined to find out how to control her powers so she can protect what is hers...even if she has to sneak behind her team's backs to do so. But what should've been a time to settle down with her mates turns deadly when secrets are exposed. Morgan is furious, but determined to fight for the chance to have a future with her men...even if she must challenge the sea queen to prove her claim on Draven. The sea queen is vicious and will do whatever is necessary to get what she wants...and she wants Draven. There is always a price to pay for defying the queen, but her mates refuse to let Morgan pay the price alone. When a deal is struck, Morgan and her team must survive the next three days of being hunted by the queen's mightiest champions. If she fails, she and her mates will die, and Draven will be forced into a life of slavery for all eternity.

MY THOUGHTS

Everybody seems to be on board with Morgan being mated to the entire team, which is a relief by now. That being said, this was a book that kept me on the edge of my seat with every turn of the page. There’s a lot of action and the intensity only rose with every incident. There are political power struggles and I actually enjoyed them – to the point of looking forward to more on the situation with the king.

About the Characters

Morgan is stubborn and it makes her a resilient badass. Kincade is protective and a commanding leader. Ryder is sweet and fiercely protective. Ascher always makes sure to be at her side when she needs him. Draven is caring and shows a much more vulnerable side. Atlas is a bit dual natured now, leaving him exciting and a little unpredictible.

Things I Liked

I liked almost everything about this book. The challenge and the hunt kept me glued to the page, the group was much more close knit and worked together better, and we meet new friends allowing new possibilities. My favorite parts of this book though are the pets! They are so much fun.

Things I Didn’t Like

The only thing that bothered me was that while they all mostly seem on board with the mating, there’s still some insecurity and the back and forth just gets a bit tiresome – they love each other already!

More Thoughts

There might be a lot going on in this book, but the multiple conflicts are juggled well and it holds good continuity over all.

Does it stand alone?

I suppose it could, but not well.

Bottom Line

This was a great installment in an addicting series.
